Why do many people watch Joel Osteen, when Evangelicals and Atheists criticize him?

the first time i heard one of osteen's sermons, i realized that he's better suited to motivational speaking. that may be why he has such a huge following. even non-christians listen to him. (no, i did not make it a habit and start sending in donations.)
