Question for pipe smokers...?

Most people start out on St Bruno, Clan or Condor as these are readily available in most tobacco outlets including supermarkets, but according to my dad (an enthusiastic 40 year pipe smoker) they're pretty foul. Gold Block is a good choice for beginners and intermediates, it's easily available, good quality and has a medium flavour, Erinmore is also apparently pable. Radford's Sunday's Fantasy (Radford also make other flavoured products) is a good flavoured tobacco, it's a little more expensive than the others mentioned but not hugely and has a very pleasant aroma, not only for the smoker, but to people like me who around the one smoking it, you'd probably have to go to a tobacconist for this though, supermarkets are unlikely to stock it.
